Synopsis - Life's Lottery 26 Chapters, BOOK COMPLETE

Kate immigrates to
Australia in the sixties with three of her children. She leaves behind the ugly memory of abuse against two of them by her second husband. Having successfully settled in Sydney she meets up with an American friend of the family who is on leave from Singapore . They fall in love and within a short period he returns to Australia to be with Kate. She is cautious, so they live together for quite some time before getting married. He then gets a job further north, and after what she thought was a successful move he un-expectantly turns violent.

Kate endures months of humiliation and cruelty then the final blow comes when her sixteen year old daughter announces that she wants to return to the
U.K. as she can no longer endure the behaviour of her mother's partner. Finally Kate, who turns out her violent husband, manages to secure two jobs in order to survive. A very dear friend makes sure that Kate's children are well cared for. Kate proves to be a very popular barmaid at the local tennis club. A handsome witty Australian called Peter takes a shine to Kate, but she keeps him at arms length for months, but persistence however, is his middle name! Kate finally gives in, and invites him to a barbeque to celebrate a new home and new life.
